What you will do

As Network Engineer, you are the technical lead for the OTIV products' networking and connectivity architecture . You will leverage your technical and project management skills to take on all aspects of the network design, development and delivery for OTIV customer projects or products and prepare this for scaling, compliant to internal standards. You’re a hands-on expert contributing to product development and successful commercial deployments, in close collaboration with your OTIV colleagues in Software Engineering, Business Development and Customer Project Management. As an early member of OTIV and the networking team, you will have the opportunity to shape the foundation of our approach, partnerships and solutions.


Tasks and responsibilities 

  • Developing costed and documented network solution designs for WAN, LAN, WLAN and structured cabling.

  • Independently configuring, installing and testing the required equipment and set-up for commercial deployments.

  • Managing availability and procurement of network equipment, including coordinating delivery of cabling and WAN services from 3rd party vendors.

  • Identifying risks to product development related to networking and working closely with Software Engineering to mitigate  these.

  • Identifying risks to customer project delivery throughout the life of the project and defining risk mitigation plans, in close collaboration with Customer Project Management.

  • Troubleshooting independently and work with customer teams to resolve issues, in close collaboration with Customer Project Management.

  • Communicating efficiently and effectively with customer, internal OTIV teams and external suppliers at all times.

  • Partnering with international Telco players to optimize the networking solution.

 


Who you are 

  • Degree or background in networking technology.

  • Experience with wireless cameras/video streaming.

  • Fundamental knowledge of TCP/UDP/IP stack, application protocols (RTSP/HTTP) and networking concepts.

  • Knowledge of, and experience with dealing with the unpredictability and variability of connectivity (e.g., packet loss, latency, bandwidth estimation).

  • Experience with deploying, maintaining, monitoring, and logging network devices.

  • Experience in high speed LAN networking and advanced mobile/wireless networking.

  • Familiar with the Linux environment.

  • Experience with any form of network security is a strong plus.

  • Knowledge about mobile networking (4G/5G) with custom private/public APNs is a strong plus.

  • Knowledge about real-time video streaming and video compression (rtsp/ffmpeg/GStreamer) is a strong plus.

  • Experience with video transmission protocols (FLV, RTMP, MPEG TS, MP4, HLS, WebRTC, DASH, CMAF) is a strong plus.

  • Experience with objective and subjective video quality assessment (PSNR, SSIM, VMAF, MOS, etc) is a strong plus.

  • Enthusiasm for cutting-edge technology.

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced start-up environment.

  • Well-structured problem-solving approach and ability to navigate through complex and chaotic situations with a cool head.
